Art as resistance: Experience the garden of diversity in Bonn!
In the Bonn Art Museum, the event "Garden of Resistance" of the Fringe ensemble will take place from March 4 to April 13, 2025. In this innovative project, the garden is understood as a political place that focuses on topics such as migration, diversity and continuous change. Inspired by the book "Gardens of Resistance" by the renowned landscape architect Gilles Clément, the event relies on linking art and social issues. Clément himself formulated: "If you create a garden, you design your desired image of the world." Thus, the exhibition not only treats aesthetic, but also profound social issues.
The visitors: Inside, new works of art can look forward to weekly installations of new works of art from the museum collection, which are in direct interaction with the performers, author: inside, artists: inside and musicians: inside. These works of art are not only displayed, but are part of a lively exchange with the museum visitors: inside. The project offers a space for reflection and discussion about current social challenges.
interlude and feminist perspectives
As part of the "Garden of Resistance", the "Interview 2025" project is also made by collective a. mu. co. co. Presented that will be active from March 4 to 9, 2025. Under the motto "Crochet as a common good sequence of power and collective hug", the collective aims to create an environment for Flinta*(women, lesbians, inter*, non-binaries, trans*persons and agenders) in which their needs are in the foreground. By crocheting together with recycled textile thread and regularly taking place on feminist topics, a creative and safe space is offered for the exchange and development.
The spatial design of the project includes a carpet landscape, meditation cushion and cozy seating that create an inviting atmosphere. Wool, crochet needles and poster walls for participation complement the offer. On important appointments, especially on International Women's Day, a work of art is carried onto the street to increase the visibility of feminist concerns.

The project in the Bonn Art Museum reflects the dynamic perspectives of the feminist art movement, which has challenged social standards since the beginning of artists such as Rosa Bonheur and Judy Chicago. In addition to new forms of expression such as performance and installation art, feminism in art remains an essential component of discourse on gender equality and the visibility of artists in the art world that are still underrepresented. The event "Garden of Resistance" and the accompanying project "Interview 2025" actively deal with these questions and offer space for creative and critical reflections.
