The focus is on quantum physics at the center: DPG-Freund- anniversary in Bonn!
On February 26, 2025, the University of Bonn is preparing for the DPG Furniture Conference and Annual Conference, which will take place in Bonn from March 9th to 14th, 2025. This significant event gathers over 1,400 contributions to quantum phenomena and their applications and offers a deep insight into the current developments in nuclear and molecular physics, quantum look and photonics. The conference is organized by the German Physical Society (DPG), which is the oldest national physical specialist society with around 55,000 members, and represents a platform for promoting scientific discussions and exchange among experts
The University of Bonn, which is part of the ML4Q Excellence Cluster, focuses on these subject areas. During the conference, students and doctoral students are offered many chances of presenting their research results and networking with other talents. Additional events, such as the international symposium "Quantum Science and More in Ghana and Germany" on March 11th, aim to promote the exchange between scientists from Ghana and Germany and enable access to quantum technologies for Ghana.
highlights of the conference
Special attention is paid to the "Awards Symposium" on March 13, where significant scientists present their knowledge of quantum physics. The lectures are given by:
- Reinhard Werner (Max Planck Medal) on the mathematical foundations of quantum physics.
- Klaus Blaum (Stern-Gerlach medal) for penning ion traps.
- Michael Fleischhauer (Herbert-Walther Prize) about non-linear quantum look.
In addition, the conference will offer public lectures with free admission, including the Lise-Meitner-Lecture on March 11 with Anne L’uillier via Attosecondlicht, the public evening lecture on March 12 with Markus Aspelmeyer on quantum physics and gravitation as well as the Max von-Laue-Lecture on March 13 with Karen Hallberg, the threats on nuclear threats speaks.
Young researchers also have a variety of opportunities for networking, such as participation in pub culture discoveries or the women-in-physics chat. Media representatives are invited to register for free participation and a press conference.
accompanying events
In addition to the spring conference in Bonn, there will be further DPG early anniversary in Cologne, Regensburg and Göttingen, which are devoted to various topics of physics. In Cologne, from March 10th to 14th, 2025, everything revolves around mass spectrometry, while in Regensburg from March 16 to 21, 2025, aspects of biophysics and chemistry are in the foreground. The last event, taking place from March 31 to April 4, 2025 in Göttingen, deals with topics such as gravity and relativity as well as particle physics.
The DPG and the University of Bonn show their commitment to promoting physics in all its facets, continuously with the aim of supporting the sustainable development of the subject and the exchange among scientists. As the DPG itself emphasizes, it is increasingly discussed at all events about how equal opportunities can be promoted in science, especially by initiatives such as "Young DPG" and various working groups.
For more information about the events and the DPG, interested parties can visit the DPG and the University of Bonn. University of Bonn and dpg offer comprehensive details to agenda and registration.
