Wahlarena in Bonn: Young people shape the Bundestag election 2025!
On February 11, 2025, an important election arena took place in the Bonn Opera, which was organized in the run -up to the Bundestag election on February 23, 2025. This event, which was launched by the Citizens 'Participation of the Citizens' Participation of the City of Bonn and the Children's and Youth Ring Bonn in cooperation with local schools, offered 1,000 students from upper grades and final classes the opportunity to enter into dialogue directly with Bonn's direct candidates and representatives of the parties represented in the Bundestag. The aim of the election arena was to offer young people a platform to address their concerns and questions to politics.
The event was fully booked and started at 9:30 a.m. with a “market of possibilities” in the foyer of the opera. Here the participants in information stands from member associations of the children's and youth ring and the Federal Center for Political Education were able to collect information. Topics such as "living, social affairs and participation", "economy, climate and foreign policy" as well as "democracy, society and migration" were treated along this structure.
interactive hands -on activities and fresh voices
The election arena was characterized by interactive hands -on activities in which students were able to submit questions. They were moderated by young people who were specially prepared for this task in the Locom media academy Bonn. The candidates gave short, concise answers and at the end of the event followed the final statements of the politicians. In order to achieve more students, the entire event was also transferred to schools by livestream.
importance of youth participation
In another framework, experts discussed the role of young people in political decision -making processes on the same day in a webinar. This event, which took place from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., combined modern communication formats with classic politics. The webinar addressed the influence of the Bundestag election on democracy and citizen participation in Europe, with a special focus on the concerns of young people.
The discussion also included innovative approaches to youth participation, such as the youth election U18 initiative. The speakers included Walid Ahmed Khan Malik, an activist for child and youth rights, as well as Shari Kohlmeyer, national advisor to youth policy at the German Federal Youth Ring. These discussions illustrated the challenges and opportunities associated with the political participation of young people.
political demands for the Bundestag election 2025
The Federal Youth Ring calls for a clear youth policy in the run -up to the Bundestag election that focuses on the concerns of young people. Among other things, the legal anchoring of youth participation in federal politics is required in a number of ten claims. This includes reducing the age to 16 years, better financing of the youth association work and measures against child and youth poverty.
Wendelin Haag, the chairman of the Federal Youth Ring, appeals to politics to seriously incorporate the voices of young people into decision -making processes. The complete list of demands also includes goals such as strengthening social diversity and climate justice. Daniela Broda, one of the other chairpersons, emphasizes that the consideration of the young generation in political decisions is essential in order to shape a future -proof and just society.
The union of these various initiatives and events evidence of how important it is that young people are actively integrated into the political landscape - not only as voters, but as an equivalent participant of the political discourse.
