Housing fire in Meckenheim: more suspicious than perpetrators in sight!
in Meckenheim near Bonn, an apartment fire occurred on Thursday evening, which was reported at 5:45 p.m. A 78-year-old couple was slightly injured in the incident. The cause of the fire seems to lie in a negligent behavior when cleaning a table with a wash petrol. Sprayer of the washing petrol came into contact with a burning candle, which the fire triggered. The couple initially tried to extinguish the fire themselves with a bucket, which was only successful. A flammable water-petrol mixture spread in the apartment and led to further damage.
When the fire brigade arrived, the apartment was heavily smoky. The emergency services took the couple out of the apartment, in which suspicion of flue gas poisoning was found. Both were then brought to the Helios Clinic in Bonn. The fire brigade initiated extensive ventilation measures, but the apartment is uninhabitable until further notice. The fire brigade took around three quarters of an hour. The police confiscated the site of the fire, while the criminal police carried out further investigations, such as the Rundschau online reported.
