Sign against racism: Large exhibition in Bonn on March 21st!
on March 21, 2025, the international day against racism, there is an important event in the city center of Bonn. Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. the hiking exhibition with the title "The Victims of the NSU and the processing of the crimes" will be opened. This exhibition aims to address the NSU murders and its social effects. As the city of Bonn reports, the Office for Integration and Diversity will provide information on site and discuss with the visitors: conduct inside.
The exhibition was designed by Birgit Mair on behalf of the Institute for Social Science Research, Education and Consulting (ISFBB). It not only addresses the crimes of the National Socialist underground (NSU) between 1999 and 2011, but also illuminates the biographies of the victims and the processing of the deeds as well as the subsequent right violence after the self -depreciation of the NSU. After its presentation in Bonn, the exhibition will be passed on to the Bertolt Brecht Comprehensive School, where it will be actively integrated into the lessons for three weeks. This should raise awareness of racism and extremism.
a sign against racism and extremism
The initiative to organize such an exhibition comes at a time when racism is still an urgent problem in Germany. A study that was recently presented as part of the "national discrimination and racism monitor" shows that 90 percent of racism surveyed recognizes in Germany. At the same time, 22 percent of the population had had experience with racism. These figures illustrate the need to raise awareness of discriminatory structures and racist violence.
The commitment to racism is particularly high among younger and higher -educated people. 70 percent of the population are ready to actively get involved against racism. Many take part in demonstrations or support corresponding initiatives financially. This shows a growing willingness to fight against discrimination, a development that is also supported by political measures. Federal Minister of Family Affairs Lisa Paus emphasizes the importance of voluntary commitment and announced that it would be financially strengthened the fight against racism.
The NSU processing in Saxony
parallel to the exhibition in Bonn is being used to deal with the NSU complex in Saxony. In May 2023, a feasibility study for a documentation center was presented on this topic, which was created in cooperation with the clubs Raa Sachsen e.V. and Asa-Fff e.V. The aim of the center is to document the continuity of right -wing terrorist and right violence in Germany. This initiative is supported by the civil society movement, which has existed in Saxony since 2012
The feasibility study proposes a politically independent documentation center that should involve those affected in decision -making processes. In addition, a multi -perspective approach is recommended to make many different stories and perspectives visible. The study emphasizes the need for long -term financial security and a suitable carrier structure in order to promote the processing. The challenges of the NSU complex and the associated right-wing extremist violence are not only a danger to those affected, but also for democracy itself.
In view of the statistical data on right-wing violence in Germany and specific questions that the NSU complex in Saxony raises, the urgency of dealing with these topics becomes all the more clear. A joint endeavor to oppose racism and extreme violence runs through the various initiatives and events, as well as the hiking exhibition in Bonn. This development is a clear sign that the fight against racism and for the rights of all those affected are not only necessary, but also actively supported. The hiking exhibition and the planned documentation centers are in the right direction to process the past and to sensitize the society to current and future challenges.
