District Borken celebrates 50 years - cheers and challenges at the same time!
On January 7, 2025, the Borken district announced that it will celebrate its 50th anniversary next spring. The festive occasion is planned for March 14, 2025, with District Administrator Dr. Kai Zwicker announced a special appreciation of the anniversary. The district was founded in 1975 in the course of the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia and emerged from the former districts of Ahaus and Borken as well as the independent city of Borken.
Although the anniversary is to be celebrated, the financial framework of the activities is kept “narrow” due to the tense budget situation. This means that the New Year's reception must be omitted in January 2025. The ceremony takes place in the Borken district house and will attract guests from public life in Westmünsterland.
