District Borken celebrates Triumph at the 2024 city cycling in Munich!

On December 30, 2024, the results of this year's city bike were published, in which the Borken district was awarded the most bicycle -active municipality in the category of municipalities with 100,000 to 499,999 inhabitants. Eva-Maria Mehring and Sarah Fortmann accepted the award in Munich and paid tribute to the outstanding achievements of the region.

The lead over the second place was around 300,000 kilometers. Dr. Zwicker also plans to defend the title for 2025 when hundreds of thousands of citizens in Germany are again cycling for a good climate.

The Ahaus Josefschule was particularly successful, which took first place among primary schools with 54,105 kilometers. The Astrid Lindgren School Burlo Borken landed in second place with 49,289 kilometers. At the secondary schools, the Remigianum grammar school from Borken reached first place with 74,206 kilometers.

The next round of the city bike in the Borken district begins on May 1, 2024 and takes place until May 21. Registration is possible on www.stadtradeln.de . The reasons for participation are diverse, including fitness, climate protection and the joy of cycling. The formation of teams is also possible, be it with family, friends, sports clubs or employers.
