The focus: Borken and Wroclaw celebrate 25 years of success!

Raesfeld was a central point at this year's partnership meeting of the Borken district with the Polish partner district of Wroclaw/Wroclaw. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of this important circular partnership, representatives of both circles came together for an intensive exchange. District Administrator Dr. Kai Zwicker headed the Delegation from the Borken district, while the newly elected Polish Starosta Włodzimierz Chlebosz and his deputy Marcin Korytko completed their first visit to Westmünsterland. This long -term connection has gained importance since its foundation in 2000 through the partnership agreement between district administrators Andrzej Wasik and Gerd Wiesmann. The municipality of Borken has also been maintaining a special relationship with Kobierzyce, which is supported by both counties for two decades. Heimatreport reports that the meeting focused on ongoing cooperation and contained many significant program items.

The first day of the meeting was particularly noteworthy, on which the Polish delegation visited the Borken district house. There, Stephan Kruthoff informed about developments in danger defense and population protection. At 11 a.m. the sirens of the nationwide warning day, an impressive sign of the importance of security and prevention in the region.

After a lunch together, a company tour of the Foooke company took place, which specializes in portal milling machines. The delegation then visited the cultural-historical center "Kult Westmünsterland" in Vreden, where an impressive Playmobil exhibition was organized. This first day closed with a cultural highlight that deepened the connections between the partners.

On the second day, a visit to the Raesfeld Castle community was on the program. The delegation was made by District Administrator Dr. Kai Zwicker, Starosta Włodzimierz Chlebosz and Markus Büsken. The visit included the castle chapel, the wedding room as well as the knight's hall and the Naturparkhaus Tiergarten Schloss Raesfeld. Afterwards, Castle Velen was also visited, which also maintains a partnership with Dlugoleka.

The worthy conclusion of the meeting was the participation in the festival event "50 years Westmünsterland Kreis Borken". NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst held a speech in front of the numerous guests. On this occasion there was not only an exchange of gifts, but also an impressive festive cake that celebrated the anniversary.

The development of the partnership between the Borken and Wroclaw/Wroclaw districts is not only shown in the annual meetings, but also in various initiatives that have taken place since the signature contract was signed in 2000. This includes working visits to delegations, cultural exchange programs and numerous joint projects that promote mutual understanding. Kreis Borken emphasizes that this long-term partnership is not only a supporting pillar in the area of ​​local cooperation, but also strengthens the civic engagement in both regions.
