Sun power from the roof: Free seminar for the energy transition on March 20!

On March 20, 2025, a free online seminar entitled "Sonnenstrom from the roof" will take place at 6 p.m. It is organized by the NRW consumer center in cooperation with the Borken climate rice. Energy consultant Dirk Mobers leads the seminar, in which central topics are dealt with for the use of solar energy.

The seminar offers valuable insights to reducing energy costs through the implementation of solar power. Another focus is on the storage of solar power using batteries, which play an important role in the independence of fossil fuels and for climate protection. In addition, financial aspects and practical tips are given. After the lecture, the participants have the option of asking their questions in an exchange forum and receiving further information. Interested parties can find the access data and additional information on the website of the consumer center NRW: www.vergverusgerzentralen.nrw/e-Seminars .

Regular seminars and funding

The seminar "Sonnenstrom from the roof" is carried out regularly every third Thursday of the month. This concept is part of the extensive online offers in 2025, which focus on energy savings, funding and climate change. The Borken climate rice is a member of the "Altbauneu" network, which is campaigning for energetic building renovations.

Energy counseling by the consumer center is also promoted by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, which facilitates access to information about renewable energies and its economic implementation.

importance of photovoltaic and storage systems

The importance of photovoltaics (PV) for energy supply is undisputed. As part of further training measures, the TÜV Rheinland Academy offers seminars on construction, buildings and real estate, which are carried out in both presence and online. These seminars include 13 available dates with a total of 16 teaching units and conclude with a certificate. The target group are specialists in sales specialists who want to specialize in PV and storage technology.

A successfully implemented PV system makes a decisive contribution to the energy transition, especially in connection with modern storage systems. The retrofitting of storage systems for existing systems enables economic and legally safe handling. The legal and tax framework is of central importance here. To date, the costs for photovoltaic systems have reduced by over 90 percent, which increases their economy.

In addition, PV systems are only amalty after one to two years. In the life cycle, they emit 43 to 63 g CO₂ equivalent per kWh, which makes them a more environmentally friendly alternative compared to fossil fuels. It is important to mention that photovoltaic systems do not fall under European emission trade.

The use and technology of the PV systems refer to mono and polycrystalline solar cells, which consist of semiconductor material. These solar cells convert sunlight into electrical energy, which is converted into common alternating current by inverters. Sustainable handling of old PV modules is promoted by the municipal recycling centers, where a recycling rate of 92.4 percent is achieved.

The combination of education and practical experience is thus viewed as a decisive factor for the successful implementation and use of renewable energies in Germany.
