Weiber carnival in Frielendorf: A night full of fun and surprises!

Der Weiberfasching, one of the festive highlights of the carnival period, took place on Friday in the Hotel Hassia in Frielendorf. Organized by the Frielendorfer Carneval Verein (FCV), the event attracted around 240 women who turned into creative costumes under the motto "Under Water". From mermaids to squids to garbage in the fishing net - the variety of costume was impressive. The moderation took over Sabrina Wischrath and Yvonne Romankowic, who led through the evening and heated up the mood.

The atmosphere was characterized by music, dance and celebration. A total of seven men's ballets from the Schwalm-Eder district performed. The first appearance of the Hopfeld Garde mouse was particularly outstanding. This presented himself in work clothing and received standing ovations for this. The men's ballet BCC Borken, which interpreted Salsa and Ballermann hits, was also given loud applause. During the first break, the women stormed the dance floor and let themselves be carried away by the musical performance.

diverse appearances and mood

Further appearances followed by groups such as the Gazellen from Treysa and the men's ballet Wolfershausen, which further fueled the good mood. A special highlight was the appearance of the Fämsgarde Blue Funken from Guxhagen. The crowning glory was the show ballet and the Fresh Mett boys of the FCV, the performances of which rounded off the celebrations in an unforgettable way. With a lot of dancing, singing and laughing, the general mood was exuberant.

At the same time, the Hammer reader carnival club carried out its own women's fasching, which took place for the fourth time. This event was also a colorful mix of tradition and fun. The event enjoyed a mixture of women in festive costumes and men who presented themselves in women's dresses. The highlights were the appearances of six men's ballet groups and the debut of Funkenmariechen Angelina Dagner, who took their first steps on stage after eight years of experience.

The celebration was enriched by DJ Flo, whose music and light show put the guests in a party mood. The "Russian" danced to Michael Jackson's songs, while the men's group "Lari Fari" from Dahnbach captivated the audience. A polonaise was also initiated here, which encouraged all participants to sing along. The snack ensured that the celebrations lasted over several hours and thus underlined the sociable coexistence.

tradition and future of carnival

The women's carnival is part of a long tradition that has its roots in both pagan and Christian customs. The influence of old Roman festivals and Germanic winter exhausts is still noticeable today. Historically, the carnival developed into an important celebration in the Middle Ages, which brought people together before the 40-day period. Since then, the carnival has developed from the first masked moves to a large spectacle with commercial elements and alternative forms.

The current events, such as those in Frielendorf and Hammerles, show that these traditions have been preserved over the years. The combination of customs, joie de vivre and the sense of community attracts thousands of visitors every year who celebrate life together and strengthen social bonds. At a time when the carnival is often shaped by commerce, such celebrations offer a welcome return to the roots of carnival.
