Batenbrock community center: Hope for Bottrop citizens and clubs!
On May 6, 2025, the SPD Bottrop submitted important suggestions to improve the social infrastructure in Bottrop in a press release. Mayor candidate Matthias Buschfeld performed as the main speaker and praised the Batenbrock community center as a positive example of a functioning meeting place. He emphasized the need to create similar facilities in all parts of the city.
In particular, the districts on the edges of Bottrops urgently need more meetings to give residents the opportunity to meet and exchange their own. In this context, Alois Thull, a representative of the IGBCE, asked how many towns of residents and clubs are actually available. The citizens' meeting in Vonderort, organized by various SPD local associations, served as a platform for these discussions.
need for modern centers
Buschfeld pointed out that the Batenbrock community center has already made a decisive contribution to the municipal community. The premises there can be reserved, whereby only drinks are chargeable. This makes the house an inviting place, according to Buschfeld, who also works for the fact that the Fuhlenbrock district, whose house of the St. Bonifatius support association is no longer fully available, benefits from similar infrastructures.
As part of the planned modernization of the Fuhlenbrock market, a multi -purpose room for clubs is being built, which has already come across the interests of several local groups. In Vonderort, however, there is not only the need for meeting rooms, but also an acute lack of shopping and local supply.
Despite good leisure activities such as the health park at the Knappschaftskrankenhaus and the district park Vonderort, many residents miss utensils of daily life. The demolition of the outdated meeting place in the Leisure House in the Revierpark also raises questions about adequate replacement for citizen meetings, especially with regard to the former brine bath.
social urban development as a long -term goal
In this context, the nationwide initiative "Social City" is also important. Since 1999, this program has been pursuing the goal of sustainably improving the living conditions in disadvantaged districts, which are often affected by poverty and unemployment. The focus is not only on structural, but also on social measures that serve to network and mobilize citizens.
According to the guidelines of this initiative, investments should flow into the social infrastructure, such as schools and kindergartens as well as in structural measures. Between 2017 and 2020, the Federal Ministry of Building has also provided 200 million euros annually as part of the investment package "Social Integration in the Quarter" to meet these goals.
The neighborhood management is considered the central instrument to stabilize the districts by actively taking into account the interests of the residents. The establishment of self -supporting structures should strengthen the identification of citizens with their district and make a decisive contribution to conflict coping.
The interaction of these measures and initiatives is crucial to improve the social infrastructure in Bottrop and to meet the requirements of the population. The way to implement these plans is still long, but the initiative of SPD Bottrop shows that there is a clear will to increase the quality of life for all parts of the city.
