New rainwater system in Bottrop: Successful test for heavy rain!

In Bottrop, a new drainage system was tested on the converted Lamperfeld, which proved to be successful in heavy rains. According to Radio Emscher Lippe , the system has worked on schedule and has efficiently led into the drainage system, where it is stored. In dryness, the same water is then used to water trees on the side of the road, which benefits both the trees and relieves the Bottrop sewage system.

The test of the system took place in the first heavy rain and was successful. Currently it is only installed on a small section of the Lamperfeld in front of the new roundabout. However, there are considerations to continue using the system for future street conversions.

sustainable handling of rainwater

Dealing with rainwater has gained importance in Bottrop, especially in heavily sealed areas such as the Emscherzone. The environmental and green department promotes this change by providing information on rainwater management. The ecological and economic advantages of such systems are crucial during planning and implementation.

A brochure entitled "Rainwater management - information for the citizen" is offered to deepen the topic. This can be downloaded and treats the infiltration of rainwater and relevant aspects of rain management. In addition, an Excel file is available, which is used to calculate a rain remover for land. While the Excel file is currently being revised to calculate the infiltration, citizens in the Environment and Green Department can receive further information and support for funding opportunities, such as "https://www.bottrop.de/klima-umwelt-natur/regenwassermanagement/umgang-mitpfwasser.php"> bottrop.de Notice.
