New Year's reception in Bottrop: Celebrate and experience local beer variety!

On February 1, 2025, the historic Passmann pub in Bottrop becomes the scene of a special New Year's reception. Under the motto "Brecht with us all good intentions!" invites the Bottroper beer, a local brewery, to visit the traditional pub. Admission is free and the doors open at 5 p.m. The aim of the event is to promote the Bottrop pub scene and support local companies. Visitors can look forward to a tasty offer that includes currywurst, pretzel, beer sticks and Mettwurst. Around four years after the founding of the Bottrop beer, events like this are an important step towards combining tradition and modernity in the city.

The Passmanns is not only a historical pub, but also known for its charming ambience. Michael Pelikan, the Passmann's tenant, is expressly thanked for his support of the event. The event also offers the opportunity to revive memories and to make new acquaintances, emphasize the organizers.

Bottroper beer: Return to the brewing tradition

Bottroper Bier GmbH has set itself the task since its foundation in 2020 to revive the brewing tradition in Bottrop. 42 years after the Westfalia brewery was closed, beer is brewed again in Bottrop. Ten friends who are at the age of 45 to 55 assumed the challenge of creating their own microbrewery. Already in May 2019 the first brewing process took place in a 50-liter system that was expanded due to the positive response to larger systems.

The brewery, which is located in a former house, will not only offer beer varieties such as light and dark, but also plans to other specialties in smaller quantities. The beer, craftsmanship and classically produced, is stored cold for a long time and not filtered to preserve the valuable ingredients.

The Bottroper beer is sold in 0.5 liter bottles and 5-liter barrels, directly from the brewery and in a reactivated "beer kiosk". In addition, cultural events, beer tastings and brewery visits are offered, where guests have the opportunity to try at least nine different types of beer. The master Braumeister Arthur explains the raw materials and the differences in the manufacture and describes how regional and historical factors have influenced the development of beer.

With these initiatives, not only the local beer is revived, but also strengthened the community. Bottroper Bier GmbH also intends to take part in urban events and rent its premises for private or company events. The first pretense of the beer is expected to be planned around Christmas 2023, which further increases the anticipation for the recovered beer culture in Bottrop.

A common goal combines everyone who is involved in this event and the brewery: enrich the hometown Bottrop with a unique, self -brewed beer. Interested parties can look forward to exciting discoveries - both at the event in the Passmanns and the numerous offers that the Bottroper beer has to offer.
