Go safely with the rollator: Free training in the MHB cafeteria!

Physiotherapy and occupational therapy employees will organize free rollator training on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. The first exercise unit takes place from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the MHB cafeteria and is aimed at people who use a walker in everyday life. The aim of the course is to convey more security and mobility to the participants.

The training includes important aspects such as safe walking with the rollator on different substrates, overcoming obstacles such as curbs or door thresholds and tips for the correct posture and handling. In addition, exercises are offered for falling prophylaxis and increasing self -confidence. Practical instructions and time for questions are also part of the program. Due to the limited number of participants, registration is required. Interested parties can register on 02041/106-1901.

fall risk and prevention

The risk of falling increases with age, which often leads to a fear of further falls. This fear can cause those affected to move less, which further increases the risk of falling and restricts the quality of life. An attempt is made to actively act against falls as part of the rollator training and general measures for fall prophylaxis.

The essential measures for fall prevention include the creation of a safe and barrier -free home environment, checking the existing medication and the purchase of technical aids. Regular exercises, such as those offered in rollator training, are crucial to maintain muscles and balance. Statistics show that around 30 % of the over 65-year-olds fall annually, which often leads to serious health consequences such as broken bones and psychological problems.

In order to be able to better assess the personal risk of falling, questions about your own health and existing risks should be asked, for example whether falls have already occurred or whether several medication are taken. The most common causes of falls include equilibrium disorders, visual disorders and limited freedom of movement.

For additional security, adjustments in the living space, such as non -slip documents and handles, as well as the use of a house emergency call with falling stitch can be considered. Regular exercise is also important to promote well -being and minimize the risk of falling. The website of the German house emergency call, which provides extensive information, provides information about the presented measures for fall prophylaxis to increase security in everyday life and to promote self -determination.
