Skihalle Bottrop closes for modernization: New leisure dream from October!
From April 1, 2025, the ski hall remains closed in Alpincenter bottrop for several months. The reason for the closure is extensive modernization work that aims to improve skiing and expand the leisure activities. The last day of operation before the renovations is March 30, 2025, with a planned reopening on October 1, 2025.
A central component of the planned modernization is the renewal of the conveyor belt tunnel, which is to be largely underground. In addition, new areas are created for an expanded leisure offer, including a hotel and modernized restaurants. The focus of the conversion measures is on the creation of a new slopes for beginners who wants to make it easier to get started with winter sports.
extension of the leisure offer
In order to further increase the attractiveness of the alpine center, the infrastructure within the hall is also expanded. This includes a new entrance area with a modernized sports shop and ski rental. The summer toboggan run, which was reduced in 2021, will be reopened and is to be extended by about 100 meters, whereby an optimized return is to be realized.
Despite the closure of the ski hall, the beer garden in the alpine center remains open from May to September 2025. The beer garden offers an impressive view of the Ruhr area and remains accessible to visitors.
Development for experience destination
The Alpincenter Bottrop has developed into a popular contact point since its opening in 2001, but often only attracts seasonal visitors. The deputy managing director Tobias Krauel emphasizes the need for further development in order to enable the facility more sustainable growth. The filling up of a heap in the lower area should create additional parking spaces and a new area with 7,000 square meters will be created by 2024.
Already during the Corona compulsory development, the first steps to expand the infrastructure were taken. As part of this project, a bouncy castle park will be set up on the outside area in May 2023 to address younger visitors. The expansion of the slope includes a laying of the driveway for skiers, which is scheduled to start in 2022 to meet future use.
In addition, the Van der Valk family of operators plans to build a hotel and have discussions about thematically suitable offers and possible cooperations, including the idea of an adventure pool. These measures are intended to help develop the alpine center into a comprehensive experience destination for the whole family.
