Large deployment in residential street: fire brigade deletes spectacular kitchen fire!
On January 23, 2025, a kitchen fire occurred in a narrow residential street, which mobilized 43 firefighters and 10 vehicles. The fire in an apartment building performed on the first floor and ensured considerable smoke development in the neighborhood. Fortunately, the fire brigade reported that there were no injuries in the building at that time. The apartment of a five -member family, however, was uninhabitable by the fire, so that the family could stay with relatives.
The emergency services were required because they had to carry breathing protection to get into the apartment. The fire was deleted in the kitchen in good time, so that it could be prevented from spreading to other parts of the building. Despite the critical situation, a turntable ladder was ready, but was not used. The firefighters had the additional challenge of reaching the site through many parked vehicles, which were parked at the nearby Westphalia petrol station.
smoke development and their dangers
Rauch represents a significant danger in the event of a fire. During a fire, various fire gases arise that depend on the burning materials. These gases are made up of oxids, inert material and pyrolysis products, and the smoke contains solid or liquid particles that are carried away during the burn. In particular, thick smoke arises that can contain additional dangerous substances such as carbon monoxide, which makes the situation more difficult for the emergency services. For example, the amount of smoke, which can occur at 10 kg different materials, is significant. In linoleum it is about 2,500 m³, while foam rubber generates up to 25,000 m³ of smoke.
The smokehouse on a fire site is crucial for the effectiveness of the extinguishing work. There are various methods of smoke extraction, such as the dissipation of smoke through openings in the roof or the use of special smoke and heat extraction systems. These systems are defined in building regulations, but are not explicitly required for personal protection. Zu air openings can also help to improve air circulation and to derive smoke.
statistics on fire protection
The latest incidents and the associated dangers for public security underline the need for regular data on fire events in Germany. Statistics that cover various aspects of fire protection - from causes of fire to injuries and dead - are required to take effective protective measures. There is currently no comprehensive overview of all fire events. Nevertheless, data from various institutions such as the German Fire Brigade Association and the Federal Statistical Office are available and contribute to improving fire protection strategies.
The importance of such statistics is shown in the analysis of last fire events and the development of suitable measures to reduce risk. The preparation of this information could make a significant contribution to increasing the security of citizens and the protection of property.
In view of the recent fire breakout at Holkers Kamp, it is therefore essential that both the population and the authorities are sensitized in order to minimize such incidents in the future. An increased cooperation between the fire brigade, fire protection experts and the public could represent the key to increase security in residential areas.Feuertrutz.de explains the smoking and smokehouse methods
