Pope Francis: Memorial service on Sunday in Coesfeld!
On Sunday, April 27th, a memorial service for the Pope Francis, who died on Easter Monday, takes place in the St. Lamberti Church in Coesfeld. Organized by the Coesfeld district, the service begins at 10.15 a.m. The invitation to this important celebration comes from district dechant Jörg Hagemann, who will also lead the fair. The sermon takes over Dechant Johannes Hammans, who will accompany those present by the liturgical elements.
In preparation for the service, the churches of St. Lamberti, St. Jakobi and Maria Frieden were interpreted. Here the faithful can enter their requests and thoughts, which will then be included in the weekly crusade on Friday at 12 noon. This ritual is intended to help people express their grief and hope and to gather in community.
The power of waiting for the Lord
In the memory of Pope Francis, the moving request is quoted in the first reading of the service: "It is good to wait in silence on the help of the Lord" (Lawlings 3:26). According to the theological view, this attitude is the result of a long process that requires patience and internal growth. Trust in God arises from experience and matures through patience, comparable to the story of Job, who despite great exams held on to his faith. Patience is described as a lively expectation that encourages us to wait and hope for grace even in times of great difficulties.
The faithful are asked to avert the moments of discouragement and pessimism. The words of the author of the lamentations, who says: "The Lord is good for the one who hopes for him" (v. 25), remember that even in the deepest need a light of hope can seem. The service will invite the participants to overlook tests and to recognize the comforting presence of God.
common prayer and consolation
In times of loss, prayers and Bible verses donate consolation and strength. Psalm 23 reminds the mourners that they are not alone in dark hours. The promise "Don't be afraid, I am with you; I strengthen you, I help you" (Isaiah 41:10) offers courage in moments of despair. These messages are carried on by the Lord's Prayer and other traditional prayers during the memorial service in order to give the participating security.
The service in Coesfeld is not only honored for the memory of Pope Francis, but also strengthened the common faith by collecting the community in mourning. The prayer of the shock "Lord, Mercy" is also integrated into the liturgical process in order to give the grieving hold while thinking about the beatitudes that offer consolation in difficult times.
