Tönnies and NRW: Corona dispute with 3.2 million euros!
The Tönnies group of companies and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia have reached an out-of-court settlement, which ends all legal disputes in connection with a Corona outbreak in Rheda-Wiedenbrück in the summer of 2020. This outbreak led to the temporary closure of the production in the district of Gütersloh, such as Haller Kreisblatt reported.
As part of the comparison, the state of North Rhine -Westphalia undertakes to pay 3.2 million euros in a trust account. This sum is intended exclusively for social projects that should benefit employees in difficult work and life situations. A committee that is represented by members of Tönnies, the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs and the President of Detmold decides on the selection of the projects.
Setting legal disputes
Furthermore, the Tönnie's authorities will reimburse court costs of 108,000 euros. In return, Tönnies hires all legal proceedings against the country, the cities of Rheda-Wiedenbrück and Gütersloh and the district of Gütersloh and raise no further claims for damages. Before that, there were over 1,000 open procedures in the room in which Tönnies admitted almost two million euros in continuing wages according to the Infection Protection Act.
The operation of Tönnies was closed in the summer of 2020 due to the Corona outbreak under extensive quarantine requirements and then reopened under conditions. Before the comparison, there were also legal disputes about the legality of the closure and reopening orders, whereby claims for damages of 4.4 million euros were in the room. The agreement comes after intensive exams of the possibilities for a resource-saving solution in the past few weeks, such as "https://www.land.nrw/Pressemitteigung/ausser-einigung-and-und--und--und--und--und--und--und--und--und--und--unde-tonzt-toennies-pull"> Land.nrw reported.
