In Dortmund, a new fraud stitch ensures uncertainty among drivers. At least 90 parking machines were covered with manipulated QR codes that lead to fraudulent websites, reports Ruhr24 . These fake codes were discovered on January 27 when a controller of the civil engineering office noticed the stickers. Drivers who scan the false QR codes pay money for a parking ticket, but do not receive a valid ticket and ultimately lose their money to the fraudsters.
