Dortmund celebrates New Year's Eve 2024: Big party without fireworks on Friedensplatz!

On December 31, 2024, the New Year's Eve 2024/2025 will be celebrated in Dortmund. The live blog reports directly from the Friedensplatz and from the city center about the festive events. The weather on New Year's Eve promises dry 2 degrees Celsius, ideal for the largest celebration of the city.

The Friedensplatz offers space for 8000 people and will experience some changes this year. So there will be no fireworks or firecrackers. Instead, DJs and a spectacular laser show provide entertainment. Photos and videos from different locations in the city center will document the celebrations.

Dortmund's night representative Chris Stemann has announced that the program will be made more family -friendly. Support comes from Dortmund's children's and youth dance groups who take part in a hands-on program. Walking acts and stilt runners are also planned. In addition, changing Dortmund DJs will put on the peace place, including DJ IGL, Tanja Bracht from the dance sports club Dortmund e.V., DJ Mallemike and many others.

The peace splash is fenced into the New Year's Eve party, with an access control for the celebrants. Children up to ten years are allowed to take part in the accompaniment of the parents, while adults have to pay five euros (plus fees) for admission in advance. The entrance fee will be donated to the St. Elisabeth hospice and the German children's hospice services Dortmund. The celebrations will last until 2 a.m. after the turn of the year.
