On February 3, 2025, exciting details about a traffic accident and the subsequent arrests became known in Dortmund. An unknown driver of a Ford Ranger caused an accident on Lindemannstrasse on Sunday evening at 7:49 p.m., shortly before the Wittekindstrasse intersection. After the incident, the driver fled to the Kreuzviertel, where his escape ended in a dead end on Roseggerstrasse/Studtstrasse. The police were quickly on site and started the search for the escape vehicle, which was discovered shortly afterwards on Sonnenstrasse.
When the police kept the vehicle, the driver noticed this and continued his escape at high speed. He finally had to stop in front of a construction site and, together with two occupants, left the car. All three ran away in different directions. However, the police officers were able to hold two 34-year-old men from Duisburg. The driver is known to the police, but was able to escape for the time being.
