Rheinbahn strike brings Düsseldorf to a standstill: 96 hours of chaos!
From March 10th to March 13th, 2025, a full -day warning strike in local public transport is announced in Düsseldorf, which was launched by the unions. The strike lasts a total of 96 hours and is therefore 48 hours longer than originally planned. It starts on Monday at 3 a.m. and ends on Friday, March 14th, around 4 a.m. All subways, trams and most of the Rheinbahn bus lines are affected. The network in adjacent areas such as the district of Mettmann and Meerbusch, as well as connections to Duisburg, Krefeld, Neuss and Ratingen are also affected by the failures, such as Tonight.de
The Rheinbahn customer center remains closed during the strike. The Rheinbahn tries to offer journeys on some bus lines, possibly by foreign and subsidiaries, but without guaranteeing the reliability of the connections. Passengers are called up to use the "Redy" app to obtain information about available offers. Some bus lines that are served despite the strike are:

background of the strike measures
The background of the strike are financial claims from the Verdi union, which demands a tariff increase of 8 percent, at least 350 euros more per month and three additional free days for the public service employees. Employers in the public service, on the other hand, consider these claims to be unavailable. Therefore, parallel to the strikes in Düsseldorf, public transport strikes are also scheduled in several other cities in North Rhine-Westphalia, including Essen, Bochum, Dortmund and Cologne href = "https://www.derwesten.de/region/nrw-verdi-streik-rheinbahn-duesseldorf-id301469476.html"> Derwesten.de reported.
The third tariff round will take place in Potsdam from March 14th to 16th. During the strike period, the on-demand service Flexy continues to offer its services without changing its operating area or times. Current information is available at any time at www.rheinbahn.de/streik, on Facebook and Instagram. In addition, passengers can obtain information around the clock at the free number 0800,6504030.
