Full closure of the A1 near Leverkusen: traffic jams and diversions await you!

The A1 motorway will be completely closed to Leverkusen from Friday, January 17, 2025, 10 p.m. to Monday, January 20, 2025, 5 a.m. This measure affects the section between the Leverkusen-West and Leverkusen crosses in both directions. The reason for the comprehensive blocking is important construction work on the motorway expansion as part of the "A-Be-Lev" project and the new construction of the Leverkusen Rheinbrücke. Drivers have to prepare for restrictions and traffic jams during this time, since the diversions can only cause relief.

Autobahn GmbH, especially for long -distance transport, recommends that the Leverkusen area by bypass them. Depirtions are set up for both directions:

diversion options

  • towards Dortmund: from the Leverkusen-West cross to the A59 towards Düsseldorf, to the Dreieck Düsseldorf-Süd, from where the A46 in the direction of Wuppertal can be used. There is the possibility to cross the A1 in the direction of Dortmund.
  • towards Koblenz: The traffic is also led to the A59 in the direction of Düsseldorf from the Kreuz Leverkusen-West, to the Leverkusen-Rheindorf junction. From here you can drive back to the A59 and then reach the A1 to Koblenz.

The crossing from the A59 to the A1 for drivers of Leverkusen-Wiesdorf via the city network to the A3 connection point Leverkusen Center remains. However, it is important to note that despite the closures, some crossings at Leverkusen are still passable.

The full closure is expected to require heavy traffic and patience on the part of the drivers. The authorities therefore ask all road users to find out about the alternative routes at an early stage. Further information on the blocking and the diversions can be found on the corresponding traffic information pages, such as n-tv.de and and 24rhein .
