Dispose of Christmas trees: This is how the collection in Dortmund will be a success!

In January 2025, Disposal Dortmund GmbH (EDG) offers free collection of Christmas trees. This collection will take place on January 11th, the first Saturday after the holiday "Heimige three kings". In order to ensure smooth collection, the Christmas trees should be placed on the street on the evening before, i.e. on January 10th.

We would like to remind all citizens from the fact that the trees have to be ready on the day of the collective by 7.30 a.m. Subsequent provision is not accepted. It is also important that all Christmas trees are completely decomposed and no decorations, lametta, artificial snow or transport packaging remain. In order to increase efficiency, it is recommended to put several trees together in a clearly visible area and not to park the collection points.

The collection is supported by a team of a total of 160 EDG and 24 voluntary initiatives. Of the 91 collective areas of 91, 41 are looked after by volunteer organizations. Around 286 tons of Christmas trees were disposed of at last year's collection, which corresponds to an average of around 57,200 trees.

For those who do not want to put their trees on the side of the road, there is the possibility to release them free of charge in one of the six EDG recycling stations. The opening times of the recycling courtyards in Dortmund are as follows:

• Monday: closed
• Tuesday: 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Wednesday to Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Saturday: 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.
