Bundeswehr in Saarland: Large exercise with soldiers and vehicles on the go!
On February 4, 2025, a comprehensive Bundeswehr exercise will take place in Saarland. This exercise is carried out by the Air Land Cleaning Company 260 and includes an orientation march in which 32 soldiers and soldiers and three cyclists are involved. The soldiers will march through several Saar localities, including Saarwellingen, Lebach, Eppelborn, Uchelfangen and Heusweiler. Residents in these areas should adapt to the presence of the Bundeswehr.
This exercise is part of a series of activities planned in February 2025 in Saarland. In addition to the orientation march, parachute jumping exercises of the paratrooper regiment 26 are also planned. These take place from February 17th to 21st in the Düren area, where around 250 soldiers with ten cycling vehicles, a chain vehicle and an Airbus A400M will practice. During this time, increased flight operations above Saarland can be expected, since the starts and landings of the Bundeswehr aircraft take place from Saarbrücken airfield.
future exercises and training
The Air Land Cleaning Company will again carry out a practice march on February 26, for which 32 soldiers and four cycling vehicles are planned. This march will also include the same towns as today's exercise. In these military exercises, the use of exercise ammunition and pyrotechnic ammunition is expected to take place, which may face residents.
In the long term, the paratrooper regiment 26 and the Air Land Cleaning Company 260 are planning an extensive training program in the coming months, which includes a variety of exercises:
- From March 4th to March 6th there is a practice camp with battle marches and night marches in the Freudenburg area (RLP), Scheiden, Hargarten and Wellingen.
- from April 7th to 11th, forest combat training is planned in the Homburger Forst and in Rhineland-Palatinate.
- Another highlight will be the recruit tour in the Freudenburg area, which will take place on March 25th and 26th.
These exercises are not only important for the soldiers, but also for the civilian population, which could be affected by military activities in their region. In the past, the Bundeswehr has increasingly pointed out that this contact with the population is important to promote understanding and acceptance.
More information about the activities of the Bundeswehr can find interested parties on the Bundeswehr website. This source of information keeps the public up to date on future exercises and their influence on the civilian population.
