200 years of Sparkasse Kleve: A festival for the region with great events!

On July 1, 2025, the Stadtsparkasse Kleve, the oldest forerunner of Sparkasse Rhein-Maas, will celebrate its 200th anniversary. The foundation stone for founding a savings bank in Kleve was laid in 1792. This concern arose from the social and economic upheavals of the time. On May 6, 1824, the "Sparkasse for the city of Cleve" was launched to cover the need for pawns.

The Sparkasse's first business day fell on July 1, 1825, and it was one of the first savings banks in the Rhineland, only to Elberfeld (1822) and Düsseldorf. Further savings banks have been founded in the region over the next few decades. These include Emmerich (1842), Weeze (1855) and Goch (1865). The Sparkasse Rhein-Maas, which also integrated the association Sparkasse Goch in 2022, was created with the merger in 2016.

The Sparkasse Rhein-Maas is strongly involved in its region and promotes both financial self-provision and sustainable projects. Your non -profit commitment includes donations and sponsorship for social, cultural and sporting institutions. Particularly noteworthy are the support of youth projects, such as "Jugend musiziert" and "business game stock exchange".

An important project is the foundation of the anniversary foundation "For our future" with a foundation capital of 1 million euros, which focuses on science, education, climate and nature conservation. The Sparkasse manages a total of 7.3 million euros in foundation capital, accumulated by the Sparkasse and its previous institutions.

In the coming year there will be numerous events to celebrate the anniversary. On May 20, 2025, a PS draw with Guido Cantz will take place in the Gocher Castell. In addition, a real estate day will be organized on May 24, 2025 at the Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences. The official ceremony for the anniversary will be committed on July 1, 2025 with a review of the history of the Sparkasse.

Another highlight in the anniversary year will be the history lesson with Marcel Reif on August 28, 2025 in the Klever Spiegel tent. In addition, the Sparkassenstiftung for international cooperation will be active at the end of October 2025 by providing help in developing countries.
