Düsseldorf celebrates 50 years of district representatives: a look back and forward!
Düsseldorf is celebrating an important anniversary this year: the 50th anniversary of the district representatives. These institutions were founded as part of the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1975, which was designed with the aim of shaping the management of the cities more efficiently and closer to the citizens. In the course of this reorganization, a total of ten districts were set up, each with their own district representative, which is responsible for the interests of local citizens. rp-online.de reports that the district representation 1 has launched a special series of events: "BV 1 - Your little parliament on site ”. The aim of this series is to inform the citizens about the tasks and functions of a district council and to promote the dialogue between citizens and representatives.
District Mayor Annette Klinke underlines the importance of communication with the citizens and emphasizes that the members of BV 1 are available as contact persons to get into conversation with residents. The kick -off event on Burgplatz was well attended, which shows the high willingness of the citizens to actively participate in local self -government. The next dates of the series of events have already been determined and will take place in different locations:
- Thursday, May 22nd, at the Inselstrasse playground, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 3, on Frankenplatz, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 17th, at the Rochusmarkt, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The city points out that the events in heavy rain cannot take place. Auversa dates are announced on the website www.duesseldorf.de/bv/01

The first district council in Düsseldorf was founded in 1954, i.e. before the large reform of 1975, which changed the municipal landscape of the entire federal state sustainably. Archive.nrw.de recalls that the municipal reorganization is reminiscent of some of the significant changes in the structural organization of the cities in North Rhine-Westphalia triggered, which also brought far-reaching consequences for the entire region. To date there are 396 municipalities and 31 circles that emerged from this reform.
