Fire brigade school Mettmann: 27 new fire champions rock the region!

This day, April 4, 2025, 27 prospective firefighters successfully completed their 18-month training as fire masters and fire champions at the fire department school of the district of Mettmann. These graduates, which come from six cities in the Mettmann district as well as from the city of Neuss and the airport fire brigade Düsseldorf, were allowed to receive their certificates in a solemn ceremony. District director Nils Hanheide presented the documents to the graduates and paid tribute to their commitment and commitment during the training.

The training included various important topics such as fire protection, technical assistance, dealing with hazardous substances and additional training as a paramedic. The practice -oriented training was carried out in the modern facilities of the fire brigade school, which started operating in the newly built hazard defense center in 2021. There are, among other things, a respiratory protection training, a fire simulation room and a large exercise hall that offers realistic replicas of apartments and other scenarios.

Special achievements of the graduates

The best of the year, Sebastiaan Julsing from the Haan fire brigade, praised the strong cohesion in the course and the excellent training conditions. Particularly noteworthy is the only graduate of the year, Selena Siepermann from the fire department Velbert. She encouraged other women to also apply for the fire brigade and actively participate in the service.

The fire brigade school has a continuously high demand for the courses, which is why a new year begins every six months. The fifth and sixth course is currently underway, while the seventh course is already on the horizon, which will start next week. This shows not only the increasing interest in fire service, but also the need for well -trained specialists in the region.

District Administrator Thomas Hendele and district fire chief Torsten Schams welcomed the new candidates of the seventh course, including 27 trainees, including three women and 24 men. The training content is based on the current requirements in security and are designed to offer the participants comprehensive production in fire protection and technical assistance.

The excellent equipment and the practical training of the fire brigade school help to ensure that the courses are regularly booked. Despite the shortened starting intervals and the increased participant places, it can be seen that the fire brigade school of the district of Mettmann is a sought -after educational location for prospective fire champions.
