Spring cleaning: Harthausen collects garbage and strengthens the sense of community!

On March 31, 2025, large -scale grooming campaigns took place in several cities, which demonstrated the commitment of the population for the environment. In Harthausen and Hanhofen, garbage was collected together as part of the so-called dirty path days. While these events were local initiatives, it was also evident in Düsseldorf with over 12,500 participants that spring cleaning has a higher priority in society.

In Harthausen, 35 volunteers, including 27 adults and eight children, came together to collect around six cubic meters of waste. The municipal administration employees made a container available and provided the necessary equipment. Volunteers received waste bags and gripping tongs. The waste collected included a remarkable spectrum, including construction site waste such as rigip plates, windows and cement. Kitchen cabinets, toilet bowls and various packaging were also found under the trash.

in Hanhofen, where twelve adults and ten children took part in the campaign, about five cubic meters of garbage were collected. Here the youngest participant was just three years old, while the oldest was over 70 years old. Even before the dirt path day, students from the primary school in Hanhofen had actively collected garbage, including a detergent bottle from the Speyerbach. These initiatives not only testify to increased environmental awareness, but also promote the sense of community within the village communities. After the garbage collection campaign, the participants were rewarded with a meal by the community for their efforts.
