Krefeld is fighting for commercial space: Where are the new chances?
In Krefeld, the plans for a common commercial area with the city of Meerbusch failed. The city faces a challenge in the long term because the lack of space for the resettlement of companies is becoming increasingly obvious. Currently there are still capacities in the Fichtenhainer Allee business park, but these area reserves will soon be exhausted. The spokeswoman for Krefeld Business informed about this critical situation and strengthened the need for new commercial space in the region.
In order to counteract this deficiency, the property company of the city of Krefeld MBH & Co. KG (GGK) is working on the development of a new industrial area. The aim is to continue to offer building plots for medium -sized companies and thus to support the economic stability of the city. According to official information, the current areas are still proven, but the upcoming deficit of areas is a growing problem.
market analysis and development potential
A comprehensive analysis entitled "Commercial and Industrial Stands Areas in Krefeld" was published on May 5, 2022. This analysis was commissioned by the city of Krefeld, the GGK and the IHK Middle Lower Rhine and focuses on the future -proof development of the existing commercial areas. The need to develop underlyed and unused surface potential was also emphasized in order to prevent economic "trading-down processes". Eckart Preen, from Krefeld Business, explained that there was a high demand for commercial space, but which is limited by limited availability.
Marcus Beyer, head of planning, refers to the need for new commercial areas, especially in regions such as south of Lake Elfrather. Jürgen Steinmetz from the IHK emphasized how important a clever use of the existing areas is to secure jobs. The analysis comprises 31 commercial areas, which were assessed in terms of the overall urban development and the transport connection. Eight areas were rated positively (green), 18 are in midfield and five in the lower third.
recommendations and future steps
The results of the analysis include concrete approaches for five specific locations: Bockum-Nord, Hafenstraße, Dießemer Bruch, Breuershofstrasse and Hüls. Funny optimizations, the activation of space potential, as well as the renovation of the building substance are recommended. The use of regenerative energy sources is also emphasized as an important aspect. These recommendations should help to develop the existing industrial areas and to increase the attractiveness of the Krefeld location, according to the official bodies.
Krefeld, with its around 235,000 inhabitants, stands out as a powerful business location on the Rhine. The city offers a wide range of commercial space and objects, in good neighborhood to international corporations and a strong medium -sized company. Part of the Rhineland and Ruhr metropolitan region, lies Krefeld near the state capital of Düsseldorf and combines industrial history with building culture and quality of life.
