Robin Braun, a 28-year-old referee from Wuppertal, emerged in Bundesliga history by addressing the very first Var Stadium announcement during a game. This premiere took place on February 3, 2025 when Bayer Leverkusen competed against TSG Hoffenheim and the game was decided 3-1 in favor of Leverkusen, as rga.de reported.

In the 23rd minute Braun, Braun initially whistled a penalty for Bayer Leverkusen after Nathan Tella was fouled in the penalty area. However, the decision was withdrawn after consulting the video assistant Robert Schröder because Tella was in an off-the-sided position. The aim of this measure is to give the viewers more insight into the decisions of the referees and how the video assistant (VAR) works. Robin Braun, who took off his Abitur at the Leibniz High School in Remscheid in 2014, is not only active as a referee. After studying law at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, he completed in 2019 and completed his legal trainee at the Wuppertal district court.
