In Duisburg, the new menu of the traditional "Haus Gerhards" in Duisburg-Homberg caused excitement. Customers criticized the price of 9.90 euros for a currywurst with fries and salad via social networks. This pricing triggered a shitstorm because many users on Facebook expressed lack of understanding about the high costs.

An employee of the restaurant defended the pricing policy and explained that the portions were comparatively large. The currywurst menu therefore includes two large sausages, a large portion of fries and herb salad.
