Duisburg outclasses Meppen in the test game: 4-1 victory at the start of the second half of the season!

On Saturday, SV Meppen met MSV Duisburg in a friendly. This duel took place on the training area on Westender Strasse in Duisburg. The MSV Duisburg, which plays after a descent from the 3rd division in the Regionalliga West, is aiming for immediate return and is currently leading the table. SV Meppen is also in a challenging position, occupies the 4th place in the Regionalliga Nord and already has 16 points behind the league leader.

The test game was an important step in preparation for the second half of the season for both teams. While SV Meppen started training on January 9, 2025 and has already completed some units, the MSV Duisburg previously won another preparatory game in the training camp in Spain against SV Sandhausen.

The course of the game

The test game ended with a clear 4-1 win for the hosts from Duisburg. Tobias Fleckstein put the team in the lead in the 22nd minute with a header after a free kick flank from Can Coskun. Just a short time later, Dominique Domroese was able to compensate for Meppen in the 25th minute. But Duisburg stayed on the trigger and was able to take the lead again by Patrick Sussek in the 42nd minute.

In the second half, MSV coach Dietmar Hirsch relied on fresh forces and brought numerous changes. Winter newcomer Dustin Willms demonstrated his class by scoring two goals in 69th and 77th minute. The game attracted around 1200 spectators and was led by referee Kristijan Rajkovski.
