Duisburg Youth Sport Foundation promotes talent: € 8,500 for 2024!

The Duisburg Youth Sport Foundation has distributed a total funding of 8,500 euros to talented athletes and clubs this year. This initiative is managed by the Stadtsportbund Duisburg and aims to support performance -oriented young athletes in Duisburg. The foundation was originally founded with a donation of DM 225,000 by Thyssen AG.

The advisory board of the foundation, chaired by Mayor Sören Link, decides annually on the distribution of funds. This year the funded athletes were honored on December 18, 2024 in the Duisburg town hall. The prizes were handed over by Mayor Sören Link and Uwe Busch, the managing director of the city sports association.

The funded athletes and clubs for 2024 are:

  • Single athlete: Sabrina-Sharona Dinn, SRC Duisburg (Squash)
  • Team: Club Raffelberg (female junior U14 hockey)
  • clubs: ASC Duisburg (water polo), LT Sports (Taekwondo), SRC Duisburg (Squash), KSV Wedau (canoe slalom)

Since the first distribution in 1994, the foundation has distributed a total of around 314,000 euros in funding. The distribution is made up of interest rates and grants from the Stadtsportbund Duisburg e.V. and other donations, such as SSB-Duisburg.de
