MSV Duisburg celebrates ascent: Mega party expected on Sunday!

The joy of the MSV fans currently knows no limits. Over 16,000 followers celebrated the rise of their club to the 3rd division in the Borussia Park in Mönchengladbach on Friday, April 25th in Mönchengladbach. This significant sporting success, which was sealed by a 1-0 away win against the hosts, is the first step back to professional football from which the Meiderich sports club (MSV) was adopted in 2024.

As a result of the promotion, the Duisburgers are planning a large promotion party on Sunday, May 4th, on Burgplatz in front of the town hall. The celebrations begin at 12 p.m., and the gates to Burgplatz will be open to fans from 11 a.m. The program includes live music, DJ recordings and interviews with players and club representatives. A highlight will be the presentation of the team at the town hall balcony at 1:30 p.m., where Mayor Sören Link will also be present.

traffic restrictions and security measures

The preparations for the event go hand in hand with extensive traffic restrictions in the city center. Burgplatz will be completely closed on Saturday and Sunday, while several surrounding streets, including Schwanenstraße, the Old Markt, Gutenbergstraße and Oberstraße, must not be used between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Prohibitions on the stopping zones are set up and the city administration recommends that the drivers are to leave the car.

Stadium spokesman Stefan Leiwen will moderate the celebration and ensure that the MSV songs heat up the atmosphere. The organization of gastronomic care is carried out by the Caterer Struck Events. Nevertheless, there are concerns whether the space will be sufficient for all fans, so that it may have to be switched to Poststrasse in order to cope with the rush.

The return of the MSV Duisburg

The return of the MSV to the 3rd division is not only a sporty milestone, but also an emotional event for fans. Managing Director Michael Preetz emphasizes how important the support of the loyal supporters was during the last season. These ensured an average number of 16,300 spectators at the home games - an impressive number that underlines the cohesion of the fan base.

Overall, the recurrence is a significant moment in the club history of MSV Duisburg, and the upcoming celebrations promise to become an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. The fans can look forward to a festive program that duly recognizes the return of their club to the league.
