New chairman of the Diakonie: Rainer Kaspers takes responsibility!

The Diakonie in the Düsseldorf-Mettmann church district has experienced an important personnel change for the new year. On January 27, 2025, Rainer Kaspers was unanimously elected as the new chairman of the supervisory board. He takes over the position of Frank Weber, who retired at the end of last year. Kaspers, born on July 20, 1969 in Duisburg and grew up in Duisburg-Großenbaum, has an abundance of experience in the areas of diakonia, finance and administration. He is married and has two daughters.

Rainer Kaspers is not only a new chairman, but also superintendent in the church district since January 2025. On November 9, 2024, he was elected by the district synod and will be represented around 60,000 parishioners for the next eight years. Bastian Pallmeier, the managing director of the Diakonie in the church district of Düsseldorf-Mettmann GmbH, greeted Kaspers warmly and congratulated him on his choice.

Later he was a pastor in several communities, including the Evangelical parish of Essen-Heisingen, in which he worked until 2023. His training as a systemic consultant from 2022 to 2024 also shows his commitment to continuous further training.
