Pinocchio re -experienced: an adventure about lies and childhood dreams!

On April 27, 2025, the spectators experience a fresh performance of the history of Pinocchio, presented by Marius Schötz and Marthe Meinhold. This new interpretation dares to address the timeless topic of lies and its consequences in a way -based manner. In cooperation with the children's choir on the Rhine, the Academy for Choir and Music Theater as well as talented soloists of the ensemble, the performance brings swing to the adventures of the famous wooden doll.

The story itself is based on the episode novel "Pinocchio" by Carlo Collodi, which was published in 1883. However, Schötz and Meinhold did not take over the work directly. Rather, together with children and adolescents, they examined the story and discussed various questions. Workshops in particular were in the foreground to explore Pinocchios world and to illuminate the challenges of lies.

In cooperation with the children's choir, important topics were discussed that are important for the development of young people. Questions like "Why do people lie?" And "What does it actually mean to be a good child?" were intensively examined by the young participants. These arguments have contributed to redesigning the representation of Pinocchio and interpreting the character of the wooden doll more frequently.

In addition, specific aspects of the representation were discussed how the question of how a wooden doll moves or what should happen in an opera about Pinocchio. This approach not only offers the viewers an entertaining performance, but also a deep insight into the topic of the work, which is much more than just a fairy tale.

With this staging,

Schötz and Meinhold combines the intention of designing the figures of the figure Pinocchio in such a way that they are both entertaining and instructive. Through the joint work with experts for young perspectives, a new access to the history should be made possible, which appeals to the questions of identity and morality in a modern way.
