Spading for intercultural meeting center in Rheinhausen celebrated

On March 6, 2025, the groundbreaking for the intercultural multi-generation meeting center Rheinhausen took place. This important event was organized by the Alevi community of Duisburg (AGD) and marked an important step in promoting intercultural dialogue and solidarity in the region. General Secretary Muhammet Ali Yaşar kept the opening speech, while the chairwoman, Fatma Yaşar and Zeki çakır, warmly welcomed the numerous guests.

The center as a place of encounter

The intercultural multi-generation meeting center Rheinhausen is built on a property on Friedrich-Alfred-Straße corner atroper Straße, directly at the Rheinhausen Ost Bahnhof. The aim of the construction project is to create a space for encounters from different generations and cultural backgrounds. The center should be a place of dialogue and the community, which is important in an increasingly multicultural society.

The total costs of the construction project amount to around 4 million euros. Those responsible received excellent support from the NRW Social Foundation, which approved a grant of 700,000 euros. The German television voter Foundation also makes a valuable contribution with 300,000 euros. These financial grants underline the positive evaluation of the project and show the support for integrative projects.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, a clear call was given to support the construction project. The AGD calls on the population to contribute their part to a successful completion of the project through symbolic building stone donations.
