Circular information orchestra celebrates anniversary with Nordic sounds!
On March 16, 2025, the district information orchestra EN in the community center "Alte Johanneskirche" in Gevelsberg will present a very special concert under the title "Northern Lights". Like the city of Gevelsberg on its official website reports the concert at 11:00 a.m., with admission from 10:30 a.m. The admission prices are 10.00 euros, reduced 6.00 euros.
The program of the concert reflects the impressive nature of Scandinavia, with music from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. Pieces are particularly highlighted by Edvard Grieg, whose works such as the “Peer Gynt Suite” and various lyrical piano pieces represent rarities of romantic music. Grieg, who plays a key role in Norwegian music history, was born in 1843 and had a great influence on the musical identity of his country, which gained importance with the independence of Norway in 1905.
A review of Edvard Grieg
Grieg, inspired by Clara Schumann as a student, chose the key A minor for his own piano concert, a work that he wrote in Denmark ten years after his first meeting. Nowadays, this concert is one of the most impressive and popular of its genus in romantic music, while it also became conocidas for the two peer-gynt suites. The Regionevs reports that Franz Liszt Griegs played piano concert in Rome and this was a great honor for the composer.
The concert in Gevelsberg also has a special emotional grade, since the circular information orchestra celebrates its 15th anniversary and at the same time the last concerts for the orchestra founders and conductors Bernd Wolf and Wolf Dieter Schäfer will be.

Grieg's musicality and its influence on the Norwegian culture are still noticeable, as the extensive legacy of composers who followed him shows. While contemporary music is often shaped by atonality, the tonal and nationalist heritage of Griegs can still be followed in the works of many Norwegian composers and ensembles. The Norwegian music community has developed dynamically since the 1970s through targeted investments, which led to an increase in internationally celebrated solo artists and orchestras.
