Sustainable future: Students are fighting food waste!
The students of the Neunkirchen middle school on fire have dealt intensively with the question of how life methods influence our environment and health. As part of the "Sustainability Arena" hiking exhibition, you will get the opportunity to experience the knowledge of the subject of sustainability. According to a press release from the AOK Bamberg, Doris Spoddig's exhibition is seen as an important step to sensitize the young generation at an early stage for climate and environmental protection.
The exhibition consists of six interactive modules, whereby each module addresses special topics. This includes essential questions about nutrition, exercise and health. A module that deals with CO2 consumption in food production is particularly revealing. It illustrates the far -reaching consequences of food waste, a problem that is of great importance not only in Germany, but also globally.
food waste under the magnifying glass
The problem of food waste is alarming. Globally, a third of food production is wasted, which not only affects raw materials and cultivation areas, but also has fatal effects on the climate. The dramatic consequences include the climate -damaging gases triggered by the European Union, which correspond to the annual emission emissions of the entire Netherlands. For the amount of away food, about 30 % of the acreage available worldwide are used unnecessarily, which leads to a considerable strain on nature, such as the Consumer center informed.
Doris Spoddig emphasizes the need to appreciate food and to raise awareness of how consumer and disposable mentality strain the environment. In this context, the importance of regional and seasonal purchases is also pointed out. The Welthungerhilfe underlines that food rescue not only protects resources, but also decisively to reduce the climate effects.
interactive learning for the young generation
The rector of the Neunkirchen middle school at the fire, Carmen Dornheim, praises the students' great interest in the subjects of sustainability and climate protection. The exhibition is aimed at pupils of the seventh to ninth classes and is free of charge, which means that a wide group of schoolchildren can be addressed. The content is based on the curriculum and can be easily integrated into the lessons. The AOK Bamberg provides the hiking exhibition to all interested schools free of charge.
Finally, the project urgently shows how important it is to bring young people closer to a responsibility with resources and food. At a time when climate change in particular shows noticeable effects, early raising awareness of environmental issues is gained in importance. It is an investment in the future that affects not only the students themselves, but also society as a whole.
