Spring awakening in the national park: start new leisure buses!

Spring with its warm temperatures and the upcoming Easter weekend, numerous nature lovers move to the Eifel National Park region. From April 18, 2025, the leisure lines in the Euskirchen district will again take up their business to facilitate hikers and cyclists access to impressive nature. These tourist bus routes offer a welcome mobility option, especially against the background of DB route work, which will lead to rail replacement reversals by mid-June. Thus, the leisure buses of Nordeifel Tourismus GmbH (NET) become an important part of local public transport in order to easily reach the hiking and cycle paths of the region.

The recovery of the leisure lines takes place in good time for the opening of the hiking season, which starts on Good Friday, April 18. Excursions to nature can be undertaken via the dense network of hiking trails in the Euskirchen district with the help of the Eifelsteig hiking buses and other lines. This initiative is underpinned by a large campaign to promote public transport (public transport) for trips to nature. The three specially designed buses of Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH, which advertise for sustainable arrival and departure, are particularly striking.

diverse bus lines for nature lovers

The leisure buses offer numerous connections to the most beautiful hiking destinations in the national park. The Eifelsteig hiking bus (line 770) runs from April 18 to November 1st on weekends and public holidays and transports hiking friends four times a day from Kall Bahnhof to Mirbach and on various stages of the Eifelsteig. Another important connection is the forest line (line 815), which also runs from April 18 to November 1st on Sundays and public holidays between Kall and Monschau.

The National Park shuttle (line SB82) serves the route between Kall Bahnhof and Vogelsang IP every day, while the express bus line (SB81) offers a direct connection to Hellenthal. There are also specific lines that control the Kermeter, the forested heart of the national park from June 15. The Kermeter shuttle (line 814) and the Mäxchen (line M) hiking bus complement the offer, especially on weekends and public holidays.

free use with the guest card

A special highlight for visitors is the opportunity to use the leisure lines free of charge if you have a “guest card” of the Eifel National Park Adventure region. This card also offers discounts and additional services for many sights and leisure facilities in the region.

The mobility approach "Mobil im Euskirchen" (Mike) supports the journey to the excursion destinations and, thanks to the fixed lines, is a convenient alternative for travelers. Simple inquiries and bookings can be made online or by phone to reserve the trips. This is particularly important for groups of five or more people who have to order their tickets three days in advance.

The Northern Eifel not only offers a robust infrastructure for hikers, but also the opportunity to enjoy nature sustainably. In connection with gastronomy and the many sights around the national park, the region becomes an attractive goal for nature lovers. For detailed information on lines and timetables, the websites of the transport companies RVK, Rurtalbus and ASEAG can be called up, as can the platforms for route recommendations such as Komoot and Outdooractive.
