Police relies on action against gun slide and crime in Euskirchen!
The police have been intensifying controls in downtown Euskirchen for a week. This measure was approved by District Administrator Markus Ramers and is part of a strategic search that is supposed to last 28 days. The controls take place independently and aim to track down illegal weapons and dangerous objects in public space. This was decided to increase security in a region in which around a quarter of all crimes are recorded in the Euskirchen district. In particular, the increase in violent, predatory crimes, burglaries and drug trafficking in the past few months has made this measure necessary, reports the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger .
As part of the controls, significant results have already been achieved in the past. In autumn 2024, for example, 28 people who were sought by arrest warrant were arrested in similar measures. A total of 1214 people and 705 vehicles were checked. Eight banned weapons, including three knives, were also ensured. In addition, 29 references were pronounced and 103 technical defects in vehicles were found, such as the Presseportal supplemented.
increase in presence and security concepts
The police director Gabriele Mälchers also supported the measure. The increased police presence should not only prevent crimes, but also act as a deterrent for potential criminals. Another goal of the control campaigns is to create a safe environment, especially with a view to the upcoming fun fair events, in which experience has shown that many people flock to the city center.
On the occasion of the upcoming fun fair, security concepts were also implemented by the city of Euskirchen. Species should be blocked to minimize a possible risk of assassinations. According to current information, the strategic search will continue to be carried out in the future in order to sustainably improve security in the urban area. The collaboration of the security authorities aims to reduce the number of crimes and to facilitate the arrest of persons who are forced.
The offensive procedure of the police in Euskirchen was coordinated with the increase in crime in the region and already shows initial success. Strategically used controls are intended to strengthen the feeling of security of the citizens and send a deterrent signal to criminals. This is particularly important in times of increasing crimes.
