Negotiations on government in Austria finally failed!
Negotiations about a center government without the Freedom (FPÖ) in Austria failed. The conservative ÖVP broke off talks with the Social Democratic SPÖ, which was confirmed from party circles. Like Radio Euskirchen , it was said by the ÖVP that "an agreement was not possible in essential core material".
Already on Friday, the liberal Neos surprisingly announced their exit from the negotiations on a traffic light coalition. The ÖVP and SPÖ continued their talks on Saturday afternoon, which ultimately ended in the evening. The aim of the negotiations was to keep the FPÖ away from power after it had won a clear victory in the elections in September.
An agreement between the ÖVP and the SPÖ was considered difficult. The SPÖ called for a renovation of the deficit state budget by rich sections of the population, while the ÖVP was against additional taxes. The situation could have political consequences, because it is in the room that new elections are scheduled, which the FPÖ could possibly enable a further election victory. Longest surveys, such as Tagesschau , show an increase from 29 percent to around 35 percent.
