Paul heavily addressed social and political influences in his works of art. He uses existing photographs and paintings to create new sculptures that combine natural and architectural motifs. In addition, heavily recycled materials use in his work. Heike Kati Barath, on the other hand, wants to create art that stimulates thinking. Your works often contain hidden details that change the overall impression. An example of this are images of people in Adam costume who use modern smartphones. With these representations, Barath criticizes the excessive focus on smartphones in everyday life.
solo exhibition "not now"
Heike Kati Barath recently opened her first solo exhibition entitled "Not now" in the Roy Gallery. This exhibition provides a continuation of your cooperation with C.A. Wertheim with which she has already organized community exhibitions. At the vernissage, gospel music was played by the "Effata" choir from Niederelvenich, instead of the usual jazz music. Barath appreciates when people sing and want to reflect a wide range of feelings of life with their typical characters that are comic but profound.
The exhibition shows two large -scale pictures, each filling a wall of the gallery. The first picture shows blonde girls at the jetty in a bright, pink world that turns the viewer back. The second picture is dark and shadowy and shows an abandoned bridge, which stimulates the imagination of the visitors. Other works in a smaller format contain a tapped Yeti with a sad look and a threatening large rabbit head. Barath's works combine wit and aggressiveness and stimulate thought.
The exhibition will be shown until April 3, 2024, also with the opening times Wednesday to Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Further information is available on the website of Galerieroy.de Available.
