Schalke 04: Training camp in Turkey - who flies with?
FC Schalke 04 started an eight -day training camp in Belek, Turkey on Friday, January 3, 2025. The team is preparing for the second half of the season, which starts in Braunschweig on January 18. A total of 27 players fly to Turkey.
One of the surprises in the squad is SEOK-JU Hong. The player who has been active for Schalke for half a year and previously switched from Viktoria Köln to the U23 travels to Belek, since Lino Tempelmann was released for discussions with another club at short notice. Hong scored three goals for the U23 this season. His situation is reminiscent of Soichiro Kozuki, who moved to the U23 in the summer of 2022 and later rose to the professional squad.

Janik Bachmann and Amin Younes, on the other hand, are missing due to small knee operations and work on their comeback in Gelsenkirchen.
The squad composition for the winter training camp includes Christopher Antwi-Adjei, Mehmet-Can Aydin, Aris Bayindir, Taylan Bulut, Anton Donkor, Adrian Gantenbein, Max Grüger and the U19 player Zaid Amoussou-Tchibara. Mauro Zalazar and Steve Nouode do not travel to Turkey; Zalazar is preparing for the U20 South America Championship with Uruguay, while a loan is planned for Nouod.
