RWO fits again: 2: 3 defeat against Hohkeppel and still without a win!
In an intensive regional league dull, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen had to take a defeat again. On the 22nd day of the game, the Oberhauseners lost 2: 3 against SV Eintracht Hohkeppel and remained in the fifth game without victory, which should continue to burden the mood in the team.
Head coach Sebastian Gunkel had only a change in the starting line -up compared to the previous game against KFC Uerdingen, which ended 2-2. Simon Ludwig moved into the team for the injured Nico Klaß. The failures of Klass and replacement goalkeeper Robin Benz also forced Gunkel to put three talents on the bench from their own U19: Cankoray Mutlu, Hüseyin Aldemir and goalkeeper Jannis Knoblauch.
weak first half
The first round brought little good for RWO. The opponent took the lead with the first attack in the 4th minute. Enzo Wirtz headed for the 1-0 lead for Hohkeppel. RWO had great difficulty adapting the space and the style of play, and there was no creative ideas. The first noteworthy chance for RWO only came through Tarsis Bonga in the 18th minute, whose shot missed the goal. In the 20th minute, Ayman Aourir then scored the next goals, and so he placed 2-0 before placing the third goal in the 43rd minute. After a desolate first half, the Oberhauseners went into the cabin with a 0: 3 deficit.
improvement after the break
The second half started promising for RWO. Phil Sieben came into play for Tarsis Bonga and it didn't take long for Timur Kesim to score the connection goal in the 49th minute. With a noticeable improvement in performance and especially through targeted attacks on the left side around Michel Niemeyer, RWO managed to increase the pressure on the Hohpeppel defense. Moritz Stoppelkamp converted a penalty in the 66th minute and reduced the gap to 2: 3.
In the remaining time, RWO urgently urged the equalization, especially with two further great opportunities from Kesim in the 78th and 82nd minute. Another penalty in the 73rd minute could have brought the turn, but was not used. Despite all efforts, the 2: 3 was determined as an end result. For Gunkel, the second half was a positive knowledge, but the start was just too weak.
The situation of RWO is tense. With this defeat, the team left third place and slipped to fourth place. If you have often not been able to design the first halves in your own favor, it remains to be seen whether a trend reversal succeeds in the coming games. RWO will play against Turkspor Dortmund on Sunday, while the victorious Hohkeppeler also hope for their next game against Eintracht Hohkeppel on February 22nd.
The current location in the Regionalliga West remains tense. MSV Duisburg, the leading club, most recently left points against SC Paderborn II, which would have been scored against Gütersloh, at least could have approached.
While some decisions within the team have to be covered, Gunkel does not tire of motivating his players for upcoming challenges. "We are not allowed to put our heads in the sand now," said his final words after the game.
