Strike in public transport: Massive failures awaited in Lower Saxony on Tuesday!

The Verdi union called for a full -day warning strike in local public transport in Lower Saxony. This will take place on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 and affects all KVG companies in Stade, Buxtehude, Cuxhaven, Hittfeld, Lüneburg and Soltau. The announcement will be made before the next round of negotiations, which will take place on April 28. This is intended to put pressure on the employer in order to achieve better conditions in the tariff dispute. The union appeals to the passengers to adapt to a nationwide failure of line traffic in these areas, such as

The daily commuters and students are particularly affected by this warning strike. Parents should consider alternative transport options, since only isolated school bus rides are excluded from the restrictions. These exceptions can be viewed on the KVG website. It is also recommended that passengers leave notices on the KVG website using the contact form. The KVG service points in Cuxhaven and Lüneburg and the customer dialogue may also be affected by the strike. A rally of the strikers will take place on Tuesday at 10 a.m. on the horse market in Stade.

changes in the timetable

From April 22nd, the KVG Stade will change the timetables of several bus lines to optimize the connection. Both shifts in the departure times and adjustments to the passenger volume are planned. The lines concerned are 2001, 2004, 2007, 2011, 2025, 2026, 2040, 2051, 2069 and 2075. All changes can be read on the KVG website and in the timetable app.

The warning strike in Lower Saxony follows similar actions that have already been carried out at Berlin's transport companies (BVG). According to rbb24 there were already four warning strikes, with 16,000 employees. Verdi considers a failure of the negotiations to be possible and plans to make a pre -vote on an indefinite strike if there is no agreement. In the last round of negotiations, the BVG only offered half of the required salary increase. Verdi demands more than 750 euros per month, higher shift allowances and additional Christmas bonus.

In view of these developments, it becomes clear that the negotiations are still tense and the unions are determined to work to achieve improvements to the employees in local public transport. Despite the possibility of warning strikes, it remains to be seen whether an agreement can be achieved until the next round of negotiations.
