Water pipes in Süchteln-Hagen: Large diversions for construction work!

From Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Tönisvorster Straße in Süchteln-Hagen will temporarily become a one-way street towards Süchteln due to work to lay water pipes. This was announced by the city of Viersen, which sets up extensive diversion measures for the planned changes. The construction work also affects Anrather Straße, which is blocked for vehicle traffic in this area. These temporary restrictions should initially apply by the end of May 2025 to carry out the necessary work efficiently.

The planning of these measures not only aims to improve the water supply, but also brings challenges. A renovation of sewers can be made more difficult by neighboring or crossing supply lines, as experts emphasize. The location, the structural condition and the nature of the management zone are important criteria for the choice of renovation processes. Historically, there was already a supply of gas and water before the sewage system, which led to sometimes inconsistent laying patterns, which must be taken into account in today's work.

diversions and accessibility

For car traffic, far -spacious diversions are signposted, which differ depending on the destination. Pedestrians and cyclists get an alternative route over the silt route. Despite the closures, the blocked area can be walked on by Anrather Straße. These measures are necessary to ensure the safety of the citizens during the construction work and at the same time maintain a certain accessibility.

The challenges of the underground infrastructure should not be underestimated. When renovating, it is often forgotten that old lines remain in the ground. This can further restrict the space for new supply lines and cause problematic situations during civil engineering work. It is often not possible to document the existing lines, which leads to frequent misfortunes. Treasory measures therefore require a thorough management to avoid damage that is often due to a lack of preliminary information.

historical classification and regulations

As early as 1931, the first general rules for ordering lines were published with DIN 1998. This standard describes the distribution and depth of supply lines in the cross -section of the street. The revision of this standard in 1978 modified conditions and the increasing use of cute energy sources. Wastewater pipes should preferably be accommodated in the road, while special zones are intended for sidewalks.

The upcoming work in Süchteln-Hagen is therefore not only a step to improve the infrastructure, but also illustrate the complex challenges that can occur in the renovation of line systems. The city of Viersen and involved service providers are required to keep the impairments for residents and road users as low as possible.
