The renewal is urgently required because the Düker rainwater leads into the lip under the Datteln Hamm Canal and plays a central role in urban drainage.

The condition of the building was systematically assessed as part of a five -year inspection, which was carried out in cooperation with a special company for underwater work. Industrial covering examined the dark at 80 measuring points. Initial assessments did not result in any damage or deformations on the 35 meter long tunnel structure.
In the coming months, an investigation will also be carried out to freedom of ordnance of the construction site. This is a standard procedure in view of the historical background of the ducker. The new ducker, whose construction is scheduled to start in 2025, will probably be 125 meters long and two meters in diameter. The existing ducker is located at a depth of about 15 meters and reaches a depth of 16.5 meters on the middle dam between Lippe and Datteln-Hamm-Canal.
