18-year-old flees from LVR clinic in Süchteln-police are looking for urgent!

In the night from April 10, 2025, an 18-year-old man from the LVR clinic in Süchteln escaped. His disappearance was found around midnight. The young man has been housed in the special clinic for four years after he was convicted of a homicide according to §63 StGB. Despite immediately initiated police measures, which also included the use of a mantrailer dog, the search for the fleeting has so far been unsuccessful.

The escaped man has a size of 1.80 meters, dark brown, short -cut hair and is without glasses, beard or tattoos. The description of his stature is given as "normal". Information about his clothing is currently not available. The police asks the population to report references to the man's whereabouts on 02162/377-0 or via the emergency call 110. Similar cases were registered in the past, for example in September 2021, when four men from a closed psychiatry in Weinsberg, Heilbronn district, escaped. Two of these fleeting ones were caught in Barcelona some time later, while another in France was arrested after an attack on a waiter.

Overall, there was an alarming number of 47 outbreaks from psychiatric institutions in Baden-Württemberg 2020. Critics, including criminologist Christian Pfeiffer, have repeatedly pointed out inadequate security precautions. Health Minister Manne Lucha announced that the security measures in the clinics have to be checked and improved comprehensively in order to prevent such incidents in the future.

The case of the 18-year-old man from the LVR clinic shows the need for a rigid security check in such institutions. It remains to be seen whether the current processes will also lead to a re -evaluation of the security precautions in addictions.
